HOW TO MAKE A PINTEREST BOARD FOR YOUR BRAND DESIGNER

"Welcome to the project. Please design me a mood board of your wildest branding dreams!" This can feel a little daunting, right? I want to make your involvement with our project as straightforward as possible, so I've created a step-by-step process to create a mood board.

STEP #1 - CREATE A PINTEREST ACCOUNT
Creating a Pinterest account is essential for creating a quick and easy mood board. Go to Pinterest and sign up for an account. You can log in using your email, Facebook or Google account.
STEP #2 - CREATE A PINTEREST BOARD
- After creating your account, click on your profile icon at the top right.
- Click the + button at the bottom right corner.
- Create a new board and call it something catchy!
We suggest 'Branding' or 'Brand Ideas' so you know exactly what's within your board (just in case you get the Pinterest bug and make a tonne more boards!)
STEP #3 - SEARCH, SEARCH, SEARCH
Using the Pinterest search box, search for images that relate to your desired style. We suggest starting with a colour or a mood.
STEP #4 - START PINNING!
When you find something you like, you can add it to your new Pinterest board. There are a few different ways to do this.
- Click the big red 'Save' button.
That's right. It's that simple! Pinterest makes it super easy to save your fave pins.
- If you're on mobile, you can also hold down the image and drag your finger to the pin icon.
After each of these ways, you'll see a list of places you can save to. Select your board from under the 'Your Boards' section.
STEP #5 - VIEW YOUR BOARD
If you want to view your board before sending it, tap on the person icon and click on your board.
STEP #6 - SEND YOUR BOARD
When you're happy with your board, it's time to send it to your designer! You can do this from the same place you view your board (step #5). Click on the three dots (...) next to your board's name. You can then 'Copy Link' and send it to your designer directly through WhatsApp, Email or another social platform.
At Laura James Graphics, I ask you to upload your Pinterest board link to your dedicated Notion Client Platform. Your best option would be to make a copy of the link and paste it into your portal's dedicated Pinterest Board section.
QUICK TIPS
- Include images, logos, packaging, print design and anything else that you feel represents your brand.
- Try to create a vibe or a mood. Do you want a modern brand? Find designs and images that represent a modern mood.
- Start easy. Search for generic terms such as 'logo' or 'branding'.
- Now get specific. For example, if you wanted a minimal brand, search for 'minimal branding,' 'minimal logo,' and 'minimal brand identity.'
- Take your time and enjoy the process! Make sure your mood board represents how you want your brand to look and feel. Try to stick to a theme or a mood. There's nothing worse than getting to the end of your mood board research and having ten different styles! This process is to help you identify a clear style or direction. It's much easier to change your mind at this point than once we start your brand design.
